BOX workshop meeting in Gothenburg

On 20-21 October, 15 researchers associated with the BOX project gathered at University of Gothenburg to discuss the project in greater detail. The discussions mainly focused on the prerequisite for deep water oxygenation of the Baltic Sea, and several seminars regarding the hydrographic and biogeochemical aspects of the project were held. Two sites have been chosen for a pilot study; the Byfjord on the Swedish westcoast and the Kanholmsfjärd in Stockholm archipelago. A first draft of guidelines for a proper monitoring programme was also discussed as well as the latests technical developments of the project. The BOX project aims at commencing pumping later this year.
