Since November 2009 a mooring has been placed in the Byfjord conducting measurements every twenty minutes. We have now conected the mooring with the internet, which gives us data automatically every three hours. On 14 January a measurement was taken in the Byfjord using a CTD profiler. The measurment indicate a small upwelling. Since the last profile was taken in the Byfjord in October, the mixed layer has migrated from 6 to approximately 16 metres depth due to heavy precipitation, increased runoff and convection due to colder water. The October expedition in the Byfjord showed that the halocline was at about 6 metres depth and that the temperature showed clear autumn-like features, such as a layer with significantly warmer water just beneath the halocline. The oxycline was at 16 metres depth.
